"Thoughtful ambient from Seattle has elements of drone, experimental, and healing sounds in its musical explorations"

“A side project of WEEED, Varabonda is a droning slab of dreamy desert rock that’ll surely make you drift away into space in no time.”
- Record Crates United
Varabonda is a experimental music group featuring Gabriel Seaver from Weeed, Benjamín Zárate from Dorotheo, and Rodrigo Rico from Sutra. The name Varabonda comes from the Korean word Baraboda which means: to observe or, to look forward to. The performance took place in an afternoon in a very hot living room in Seattle during the summer of 2016. Benja and Rodrigo were both very far away from their homes in Guadalajara. There was very little spoken between anyone during the session and an expanse of guitars, cymbals, percussion, drone boxes, synths, and other instruments surrounded each player at the ready. The music that followed left the whole room in an azure mist, cooling the glowing tubes and pulsing meters of the analog equipment. I could see the songs pulling the trio along, observing how they would respond to what lingered in the air. The steady patter of the drums and the droning backdrop provided an atmosphere calling out to beautiful melodies and emotional cycles which appeared from the ether. The musicians released the songs just as much as the songs released the musicians. This session left me with a strong inner calmness that lasted for weeks after the group departed and was some of the most potent slow music I have ever experienced.

Excellent album / tape. Surprising to me in two ways: 1. Space rock is not usually huge for me. 2. Totally not what I expected when I got it in the post. Very well done, psychedelic space-rock, without being over-indulgently proggy or solo driven. astrorockandrolla

So gutted had vinyl version of this on my wish list for years. Put it in my basket this morning and procrastinated too long. Any additional copies being released? 😩 DaniTorrence
